Annotations and inscription with brief biography about Hannah Lide Coker and the Coker and Lide families, added to a memoir about James Lide Coker (1837-1918). Published memoir: "A story of the late war; written at the request of her children, grand-children and many friends," (a 1945 copy of title published 1872 by Mrs. Hannah L. Coker re Civil War, troop movements, camp life for soldiers, deaths, home front for civilians, social activities, and anecdotes of James Lide Coker and family. Copy held by Manuscripts Division includes includes note, "From Vivian G. Coker... Hartsville, S.C.," inscribed when the book was given as a present, Christmas, 1945, to Edward and Flora Coker.
